Tool Steel Drill Rod, Water Hardening
WATERCRAT Water-hardening drill rod is an extremely hard, non-deforming tool steel ground to a tight tolerance diameter, usually ±0.0005 in (±0.013 mm) which can be hardened by heating it to 1450-1500°F (788-843°C), then quenching it in water. Tools and dies made from water hardening drill rod will have good wearing and abrasive qualities due to a higher carbon content, which gives improved wear resistance. This type of drill rod will hold a sharper edge longer than other types of tool steel.
