16ga HR steel sheet is a hot-rolled steel sheet that is about 1/16th of an inch thick, or 0.0538–0.0658 in:

Hot-rolled steel is made from low carbon rimming, capped, or semi-killed steel. It’s cheaper than cold rolled steel because it requires less processing. The steel can cool at room temperature, which prevents internal stresses that can occur from quenching or work-hardening processes.
