HR steel pipe, or hot rolled steel pipe, is a type of carbon steel pipe that’s made by rolling heated steel into a hollow tube.

How it’s made

  1. Start with a large rectangular block of steel called a billet

  2. Pass the billet through a series of rollers to compress it into a large roll
  3. Pass the hot roll through a piercing rod to create a hollow tube
