How it’s made

1. Start with a large rectangular block of steel called a billet

1. Heat the billet to a temperature above its recrystallization point, usually over 1700°F
2. Pass the billet through a series of rollers to compress it into a large roll
3. Pass the hot roll through a piercing rod to create a hollow tube
