H13 OVERSIZE Firechrome Ground Flat Stock has very high toughness to withstand chipping and breaking and is AISI H-13 hot-work tool steel. H-13 tool steel is Oversize in dimension from .015 - .035". S7 is used where superior strength is needed to keep sharp edges, such as on large-scale Shear Cutting Machines.
Hardening H-13 Ovesize Firechrome Flat Bar Stock: Preheat thoroughly to 1450/1500°F and heat to 1800/1875°F, and hold 30 minutes at temperature. This will give you a Rockwell hardness of 48-50. For less hardness, air cool to 150°F, then temper immediately.
